MLA inspects flood-hit areas, interacts with farmers in Kadapa


YSRCP MLA from Mydukuru S Raghu Rami Reddy inspected the crops which were destroyed due to heavy rains in Kommuluru, Tripurantakam, Yeturu, Miduturu, Kutchupapa, Gulavaluru Chepadu, Gunthachepadu, of Khajipet, and Chepadu mandals, on Wednesday.
Kadapa: YSRCP MLA from Mydukuru S Raghu Rami Reddy inspected the crops which were destroyed due to heavy rains in Kommuluru, Tripurantakam, Yeturu, Miduturu, Kutchupapa, Gulavaluru Chepadu, Gunthachepadu, of Khajipet, and Chepadu mandals, on Wednesday.
He interacted with the farmers under the purview of Kundu river and made inquiries about the crop losses. Farmers explained him that crops were inundated in hundreds of acres due to incessant rains for the past three days.
They told the MLA that they have invested Rs 15,000 per acre for sowing seeds, transplantation, fertilisers and labour. They urged him to strive so that they can get compensation from government. But agriculture officials said to the farmers that crop loss will be estimated only after water recedes in the fields.
Meanwhile several places in the district were submerged in the water on Wednesday as streams and rivulets have been receiving heavy inflows from Kundu and Penna rivers. Vehicular traffic disruption to Jammalamadugu, Proddaturu, Khajipet, Kamalapuram, Muddanuru and Peddamudium.
Farmers transporting vegetables, fruits and other horticulture products to nearby towns could not transport their products. The district administration warned the people not to cross the streams.
Following rains, Gandikota reservoir is receiving inflows and storage of water stands at 16 tmc ft. Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy released water from Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir(CBR) to Lingala right canal.
