Nellore: District Collector K V N Chakradhar Babu informed that there are no cases of second strain of Covid in the district and people need not to worry about the second wave.

Addressing media at the new ZP hall in the city on Sunday, he said a help desk has been set up at Chennai international airport for closely monitoring the UK returnees to the district.

He also said they had already tracked the primary and secondary contacts of UK returnees and were keeping them in quarantine as part of preventive measures. Only one UK returnee tested positive till now in the district for Covid-19 and it is not the new strain, he categorically said.

The infected person was having normal symptoms of Covid and the medical teams have been conducting tests of around 3,000-4,000 on a daily basis in the district. The number of Covid cases are being currently reported only below 20, he said. He appealed to the people to continue wearing face masks, use of sanitizers and maintaining social distance for avoiding spread of virus.

He said they had allocated house sites to around 1,74,816 beneficiaries and started distribution in all 10 Assembly segments. The Collector said 1,477 layouts were developed for house sites across the district and they had started providing basic amenities to the colonies on war foot basis.

Local MLAs and other officials were involved in distribution of house sites to eligible in all 10 segments in the district, he added. Chakradhar Babu stated that they had acquired 3,743 acres of land in the district and developed them as layouts with a cost of Rs 646.30 crore.
