Ongole: Prakasam SP Siddharth Kaushal on Monday claimed the Markapuram sub-divisional police have arrested a person, who is duping people by making false promises to those who removed/suspended or facing disciplinary action from department for fraudulent methods.

The SP said Giddalur SI Sk Samandarvali arrested Rachampalle Srinivasu alias Mangali Seenu, 38, a native of Anantapur district at Kummaramkatta Centre in Giddalur on Monday and recovered Rs 2.80 lakh cash from his possession.

He said the police from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka were in search of him as he involved in more than 150 cases.

Siddharth said the accused was involved in many cheating cases and spent nearly 20 years in jail.

After friendship with others in the jails, he learnt about earning money in fraudulent methods.

The SP said the modus operandi of the accused is that he follows regular news updates and learns about the government officials, who are suspended for various reasons.

He calls them by impersonating as a senior officer and demands money to let them free from the cases. He also convinces unknown persons to withdraw the money deposited into their accounts by stating it is an emergency transaction for hospital expenditure or so.

He gives the account number of those unknown people to the suspended officers and escapes from the place after the withdrawing the money.

The SP said 20 non-bailable warrants pending against him in Bengaluru, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Anantapur districts. He said that the accused has put all the money made by cheating into betting and involving in more crimes for the same.
