Ongole: The proverb that being born into a poor family is not an obstacle to the achievers is proven one more time in the case of the two siblings from Ongole, who are receiving accolades for their talent in taekwondo.

Tolichukka Jyothsna and Tolichukka Nikhil are sister and brother representing the Prakasam district in the Under-14 Girls and Boys teams. Their father Ashok is a barber and mother is a daily worker who dream for a bright future of their children.

Though it is very hard to spare a few extra bucks for the extracurricular activities of their children, they sacrificed their luxuries, like any poor parents do and are encouraging the little ones to pursue their interests.

The children Jyothsna and Nikhil are the Class IX and VIII students of the Municipal High School in the 2nd line of Ram Nagar. Very much fascinated by the martial arts, Nikhil convinced his parents to join taekwondo coaching.

Impressed by the passion and dedication, the coach Shaik Hussain came forward to coach the boy for free, reducing the burden on the parents. Inspired by the performance of her brother and his winnings in local tournaments, Jyothsna also joined the taekwondo and the coach happily accepted her also to offer free coaching.

The two siblings have won many medals at the town, mandal, division and district levels and won chances to represent the school, mandal and district at various tournaments. They participated in the state taekwondo championships and AP CM Cup in 2018 with their impeccable performance.

This year also, they both won the Gold medals district level CM Cup tournament held by the 65th School Games Federation at Kandukur and are qualified to participate in the state-level tournament at Visakhapatnam, scheduled in a few days.

The children's father Ashok thanked the coach Hussain for his training the boy and girls as champions in the game. He said that he is trying to meet the expenditure from his small earnings just for the love of their children towards the game.

He requests the government and patrons to extend their sponsorship to the children to participate in more state, national and international tournaments so that they could make the country proud with their performance.
