Amaravati: Expressing concern over the criticism by the Opposition party leaders YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Vijaya Sai Reddy and many other leaders against the police officers in the State, the Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association in an appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi asked him to take suitable action to make them work in a peaceful atmosphere and conduct elections impartially.

Janakulka Srinivasa Rao, president and Md Mastan Khan, secretary of the AP Police Officers Association deplored that it was demoralising to the police officers who have been striving day and night to maintain law and order and tranquility in the State when they face such statements questioning their credibility and receiving baseless allegations while discharging their duties.

Stating that this condition is unprecedented in the State, the police officers said that such behaviour of the leaders without any evidence would lead to disruption of the functioning of the important public service institutions.

They requested the Chief Electoral Officer to direct all the political parties to bring any allegations to the notice of the Election Commission with evidence and desist from making baseless allegations.

The CEO was requested to bring to the notice of the political parties not to damage the institutions, denigrate the personalities of the officers as this would demoralise the personnel working in these institutions. They underlined the importance of cooperation between the government institutions and the political parties for conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections in the State.
