Guntur: Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu and Macherla MLA Pinnelli Rama Krishna Reddy on Friday laid foundation stone for widening of existing single lane road from Nagarjunasagar to Gurazala into double lane road. About 35-km road would be widened and developed into double lane road at a cost of Rs 38.4 crore for the smooth flow of traffic.

The government has taken steps to widen the road in the backdrop of increase in traffic. The MP said that the government would set up a medical college in Gurazala Assembly constituency to render better medical services to the people.

MLA Pinnelli Rama Krishna Reddy said that the government was giving priority for welfare as well as development. He recalled that the government had extended Rs 10,000 financial assistance to auto drivers under YSR Vahana Mitra.

Later, they released jute bags on the occasion of the World Environment Day. Earlier, they planted saplings at Macherla tahsildar's office.

Gurazala RDO P Partha Saradhi, Macherla municipal commissioner K Venkateswarulu were among those participated.
