Amaravati: TDP national president and Leader of Opposition in Assembly N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday stressed the need for extending the Assembly for a period of at least 10 days in order to discuss many burning problems faced by the people in the state.

He said that the YSRCP government had not only failed to solve the old problems but also created many new problems for the people in the past 18 months of its misgovernment. Hence, a longer Assembly meet would have to be held to give a chance for wide-ranging debates on all those issues.

Addressing the Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) meeting online, the former chief minister asserted that Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had miserably failed to deliver in governance and administration. There was zero-coordination while the official machinery totally collapsed and it was demotivated. Nobody expected the state to downgrade to the bottom level within just two years.

Naidu criticised that the floodwater management was thrown to winds which was clearly evident from how the Annamayya project was mishandled grossly. Without prior warning, water was released leading to flooding and submergence of several villages. Also, the Pincha project bund was breached.

Stating that the Buggavanka stream was mismanaged, Naidu said that it led to waist-deep flood waters entering the houses in Kadapa. Similar negligence was shown during the last year's floods in the Krishna and Godavari rivers, he said.

Stating that the media was like oxygen for a vibrant democracy, Naidu demanded that all sections of the media be permitted to cover the Assembly proceedings. Live telecast of the House proceedings began under the TDP regime. Now, even the Parliamentary proceedings were being telecast live. Ban on media entry in AP through GO 2430 was condemnable, he said.
