The Thotlakonda Buddhist site will be developed on a par with international standards, according to Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao.
Visakhapatnam: The Thotlakonda Buddhist site will be developed on a par with international standards, according to Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao.
Speaking after laying the stone for reconstruction of the Buddhist memorial at Thotlakonda which was partially damaged during the recent rain, Srinivasa Rao said Thotlakonda was one of the ancient sites and foreigners frequently visit the place because of its historical significance.
The memorial would be rebuilt with Rs 42 lakh, he added. Besides developing Thotlakonda as an open meditation centre, the amenities at the place would be given a facelift with Rs.5 lakh, the Minister disclosed.
The Minister was accompanied by VMRDA chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, YSRCP leader K.K.Raju, Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy, and Pendurthy MLA Annamreddy Adeep Raj, among others took part in the foundation-laying ceremony.
