Vijayawada: Thousands of Christians and others took part in Run for Jesus programme with enthusiasm on Saturday to mark the eve of Easter festival. The 9th edition of Run for Jesus commenced at Bishop Azaraiah High School grounds and proceeded through Sikhamani centre, Visalandhra road, BRTS road and concluded at the Lutheran Church grounds on Sambamurthy road.

Pastor Bellamkonda Sivajiraju, Saluri Jayakumar Babu organised the run. The run was flagged off by Rev Dr A Viswaprasad with a prayer and released pigeons into air. D Devasahayam, Bishop Rakshanandam, Bishop Dayanandam, former deputy mayor S Grittan, industrialist Koganti Satyam, former MLA Malladi Vishnu, Rev Vijayarao, Rev Solomon and others took part in the run, they held torches and participated in the run.

Speaking on the occasion the organisers said that the run was organised to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ and to celebrate Easter. He said that Jesus Christ was crucified to protect human race which reflects the love and affection towards mankind and the people who follow Jesus will be blessed. He said after crucifixion on the third day Jesus Christ had resurrected and we all celebrate Easter on the occasion, he added.
