Tirupati: The GO late on Monday night keeping in abeyance the TTD trust board decision to dispose of 50 properties is supposed to be a pre-emptive measure to counter the opposition's bid to turn TTD land sale into a major issue. But now seems to be raging into another controversy.
While the state BJP held protests, former Union minister and BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy and party leader Murali Deodhar said that the government had tried to push the sale issue under carpet without giving clarity on TTD trust board's its latest resolution.
The GO 888, they said, says that the resolution passed by the earlier board has been put in abeyance but did not categorically say that the lands will not be disposed of.
This being the time when YSRCP was celebrating its one year in office, it felt that if no cap was put on such controversies, it could affect the party image. Hence it came up with the GO, the opposition parties now allege.
