Tirupati: Renowned poet from Nellore Dr Perugu Ramakrishna stressed that without women the world is unthinkable and impossible. Delivering Dr Katakshamma Paulraj endowment lecture organised by the Telugu studies department of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Monday, he went on to say that honouring and respecting women are essential for the mankind.

He added that while western writers have been confined to the writings on nature or women development, Indian women writers have been focussing on various facets from social angle without confining themselves to one or two aspects.

Indian literature is very rich containing unity in diversity, he said.

School of Social Sciences Dean Prof T Bharathi opined that as both men and women are equal, the attitude of dominance has to be wiped out to bring in more equality. Head of Telugu studies department Prof K Madhu Jyothi observed that there are very few Telugu writers at international level and this gap has to be filled. Prizes were distributed to the students who excelled in various programmes.
