Srikakulam: Flood threat alarmed for Vamsadhara river as heavy rainfall recorded in its catchment areas in Odisha state. District collector J Nivas alerted engineering and revenue staff to mitigate damage and to update information to the residents of villages located either side of the river.

Flood level also increasing in Nagavali river as 46,535 cusecs released into river from Thotapalli project and inflow is 24,700 cusecs and expected to increase as heavy rainfall recorded in its catchment areas in Odisha state.

Flood level is expected to cross 1.50 lakh cusecs in Vamsadhara river by evening. One team SDRF deployed at Gotta barrage in Hiramandal. VROs of all villages asked to stay in their respective villages to monitor situation round the clock.
