Markapuram: The Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project Sadhana Samiti has decided to field 111 candidates as independents in the Tirupati by-election, announced its president Vadde Srinivas.

Srinivas announced that 111 fluoride victims, kidney patients and farmers will contest in the by-election with demands of special category status to the Andhra Pradesh, reorganisation of Veligonda project area into two districts, viz. Markapuram district and Udayagiri district, linking of Mopadu reservoir and PC Palli to Veligonda project, separate corporation for fluoride and kidney patients and completion of Veligonda project on a war footing.

He said that the Veligonda Project Sadhana Samithi has contested in Varanasi against Modi in 2019, for funds for the Veligonda project and special category status and requested the public to support their cause.
