Vijayawada: Aakruthi Vastra-2019 from today
The two-day annual Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh's sales event, ‘Aakruthi Vastra-2019’, will be conducted at Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada on Monday and Tuesday Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh Joint Secretary Ranjana said that the two-day event will be showcased at Sri Seshasai Kalyana Vedika here.

Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh Joint Secretary Ranjana said that the two-day event will be showcased at Sri Seshasai Kalyana Vedika here. The event will be inaugurated by the Director of National Institute of Design, Sekhar Mukharjee.
She said that the aim of organising the event was to bring smiles on the faces of our artisans, create awareness to our next generation about our rich heritage of weaves and crafts and dispel the notion that handlooms were only for the older people.
Handlooms are cool, fashionable and comforting, she said and appealed to the people to make handlooms a part of the wardrobe. Handlooms are like a legacy left behind by our ancestors, which we should preserve.
This year at the 'Aakruthi Vastra-2019', as many as 57 participants are taking part including weavers, designers and craftsmen from different parts of India. The proceeds of these events are used for various projects that CCAP takes up. Members of CCAP were always striving to promote our artisan, she added.
