Vijayawada: Swarajhuri, music-based cultural organisation celebrated its 32nd anniversary from Sunday to Tuesday on the premises of Chitturi Public School here. Swarajhuri is promoting classical music in the capital city uninterruptedly for the last 32 years and organising every month one classical concert either vocal or instrumental for the last three decades.

Modumudi Sudhakar, General Secretary of Swarajhuri said that besides many prominent classical maestros, the Swarajhuri platform has also shared by the young and upcoming artistes during the last 32 years.

He also said that as a part of the 32nd annual celebrations, two vocal concerts and one instrumental (Veena) concert was planned during the three days.

On the inaugural day, the vocal concert of Vishnudev Nambudri was scheduled. Vishnudev Nambudri has commenced vocal concert with the composition of Syamasastri 'Tarunam Idamma' in Goulipantu ragam and continued the concert with the composition of Swathi Tirunal "Paripaalayamaam" in Reetigowla ragam, Saint Thyagarajaswamy keerthanas like 'Maakelara Vicharamu' in Revichendrika raga, 'Kaliyunte kada' in Keeravani ragam and 'Palukutenela talli' of Annamacharya in Abheri ragam. Vishnudev captured the pulse of audience and received compliments from them with his rich experience and also voice.

This vocal concert was ably supported by Pappu Gnanadev (Chennai) on Violin, Harihara Sundara Raman (Chennai) on mridangam and M Haribabu on ghatam.

The vocal concert of K. Nandini Sai Giridhar (Chennai) was received claps from the music lovers gathered on Monday. Nandini commenced the concert with Aditala varnam in Todi ragam and continued with Deekshitar's composition "Parameswara Jagadheeswara" in Nata ragam, "Janakipate" of Papanasam Sivam krithi in Kharaharapriya ragam, Shyama Sastry's composition "Maayammayani" in Asshiri ragam, "Ramachandram Bhavayami" in Vasantha ragam, a Deekhsitari Keerthana, Saint Thyagrajaswamy keerthanas 'Kaddanuvariki Kaddu" in Todi ragam, "Yemani Pogadudura" in Veeravasantha ragam.

The Ragam-Tanam-Pallavi in Ranjani ragam was received applauds form the critics. This concert was instrumentally supported by V. Krishnaveni (Violin), K. Sai Giridhar (Mridangam) and M. Haribabu (ghatam).


On the concluding day, a Veena concert was presented by Chitta Karthik, a young instrument player from Vijayawada city. The concert began with Saveri raga varnam and followed by 'Jagaananayutam' the composition of Deekshitar in Chakravaka ragam, 'Paripaalayamam' of Swathi Tirunal in Reetigoula ragam, another Deekshitar composition 'Namaste paradevathe' in Devaranjani ragam, ' Raghuvamsa Sudhambudhi' a composition of Patnam Subrahmania Iyyar in Kadanakutuuhala ragam, Thagarajaswamy kriti 'Kaligiyuntekada' in Keeravani ragam.

The concert was concluded with Swathi Tirunal Thillana in dhanasri ragam. The main item 'Ragam Tanam Pallavi' was excellent and the mrudangist and ghatam player also exhibited their admirable talent.

TS Ramachandra Rao, Ogirala Balakrishna, Annavarapu Ramaswamy and Vemuri Lakshmipathi addressed the gathering in the inaugural meeting.
