Visakhapatnam: Former Minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy has accused Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of winning the recent elections by creating rift between regions and castes.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, he said the High Court striking down the GO proposed by the State government to provide 59.85 per cent reservation in the local body elections reflects the helplessness of the State government and its failure to convey its stand properly.

"If the Jagan-government had real love and affection for BCs, it should have filed a caveat in the Supreme Court," Bandaru said.

He also accused the present government of diverting funds to the tune of Rs 14,000 crore allocated for Backward Classes to other projects. "Injustice is being done to BCs with political vendetta. BCs, who form more than 50 per cent of the population, should be accorded priority in terms of reservation based on their population," he claimed.

Bandaru also said the government had not provided enough suitable positions for the BC Ministers in the State Cabinet and demanded the government to go ahead with the 59 per cent reservation in the ensuing local body elections as promised or else he would go to court.

TDP MLC Duvarapu Rama Rao said the TDP government had provided Rs 10,000 crore under the BC sub-plan during its regime but the YSRC has not done anything for the BCs so far.
