Visakhapatnam: Araku MP G Madhavi urged the residents to keep the surroundings clean.

Inaugurating the programme on 'War on Waste for Wellbeing' here on Monday, she underlined the need to maintain the tourist spots litter-free. The MP laid emphasis on the usage of UGD system and exhorted the communities to keep the environment clean.

Speaking on the occasion, Payakaraopeta MLA Golla Baburao said people in rural areas should focus on maintaining personal hygiene. Paderu MLA G Bhagyalakshmi said villagers should come forward to keep the hamlets garbage-free.

Araku MLA Chetti Phalguna stressed on how maintaining cleanliness would help in maintaining one's health. Earlier, a rally was conducted to create awareness on the theme of the programme from Zilla Parishad to Collectorate.

ZP CEO Nagarjuna Sagar, RWS SE Ravi Kumar, DPO Krishna Veni, among others took part in the event.
