Visakhapatnam: Indian Railways has resumed the services of 200 passenger trains across the country on Monday.

In Visakhapatnam, two trains originating from Visakhapatnam – Godavari Special Express and AP Express -- got back on tracks.

Holding children and helping one another, enthusiastic travellers were seen boarding the trains after a long gap.

Passengers reached the railway station two hours before their journey schedule that has single entry and exit points at Platform No.8, Gnanapuram and Platform No:1 respectively to get the coronavirus screening test done before boarding the train. After almost two months, hundreds of travellers headed to the railway station and got screened through an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based human body temperature measurement system. The technology has been introduced in Visakhapatnam railway station to avoid human contact and test the temperature of a number of people at a time.

Armed with masks, passengers were seen carrying food packets and bed linen from home as the Indian Railways made it clear that there will not be any supply of bed linen on board. Announcement was also given to maintain social distancing at the station.

Since there is no entry into the platform for those who came to drop their kin to the railway station, they left the station as soon as they dropped the passengers.
