Keerthy Suresh won National Award for Mahanati and then one by one agreed Tamil movies and stayed away from Telugu for a while as she had to prove the audiences that Mahanati is not just one aberration. But her next films except for Sarkar haven't been able to get good box office appeal.

She agreed Miss India, Rang De in Telugu. These films shoot has been halted due to Covid-19 pandemic and she finished Penguin in Tamil. She is doing Rajni's Annatthe and accepted Sarkaru Vari Paata besides Mahesh now. She completed Penguin just before Lockdown.

Well, the movie Penguin, released on Amazon Prime Video OTT platform and we can say that the movie fails to entertain. It is a drag on and the performances are also not upto the standards that the previous films of Karthik Subbaraj have set. Even though he is not the director, people who watch it because of his name, might just feel like he disappointed them.

Rightly so too. The characters seem like caricatures and the lofty ideas that we can find behind visuals just don't give a good depth to the story or proceedings. This movie is a big missed opportunity as on paper it might have seemed to be clever and mature. When it comes to execution, the team just failed to live up to it.
