Malayalam cinema is now truly global. One is not just talking about its ventures being shot across various locations around the world. Of course, it has a dedicated market in the Gulf region where the Malayalees have made it their home for more than five decades now.
In a first for the industry, a 2017 release of megastar Mammootty is being dubbed in the Russian language for the local market there. Titled ' Masterpiece' this film was a Christmas release three years ago and was just an average performer at the BO. It was dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu too.
The dubbing works were on for more than 50 days before the lockdown intervened. Now with favourable conditions emerging, the Russian market is about to see the Malayalee matinee idol showcasing his skills soon. The female lead in the film was that of Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
