The PhD batch has seven scholars with backgrounds in economics, finance, operations and data science.

The inaugural event was graced by T. Kannan, CEO and MD of Thiagarajar Mills. Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Dean of IFMR GSB, delivered the welcome note, and Prof M. Nagarani, Chairperson, MBA Programme, delivered the vote of thanks.

Welcoming the batch of cohorts, Dr. Anantha Nageswaran spoke about the relevance of management education in today's business and economic environments, and how IFMR GSB's revamped and well-crafted MBA and PhD programmes would benefit the participants.

Kannan, in his address to the students, stressed upon having ordinary qualities in extraordinary measures. He spoke about developing a moral compass, finding a mentor, and emulating a leader.
