    Telangana on Thursday achieved a landmark milestone of four crore covid vaccinations. At 3 pm today, Telangana crossed 4,01,64,958 vaccine doses among which 2,61,58,671 received first dose and 1,40,06,287 received the second dose, the medical and health department said, adding that 50 per cent of people were administered with second dose of vaccine.

    The vaccination drive in Telangana began on January 16, 2021. Since then, the state has completed one crore of vaccine doses within 165 days and achieved a milestone of two crore mark in the next 78 days. By October 23, three crore of vaccine doses were completed and in the next 45 days, the number went up to four crore on December 9.

    Meanwhile, the health department said that around 18 lakhs eligible people have not taken the vaccine so far.

    A fatal road accident took place in Kurnool where two Ayyappa devotees were killed in the accident. Going into the details, the devotees from Budhawarpeta in the city left for Sabarimala in a vehicle. While they were stopped a tempo vehicle 60 km away from Sabarimala and drinking tea, another vehicle hit the tempo from behind and crashed into the devotees. Two were killed and at least nine were injured. The deceased have been identified as Adinarayana and Shankar of Badhawarpeta and Devanagar. More details regarding this incident are yet to be known. On Wednesday, 11 Ayyappa devotees left the city of Kurnool for Sabarimala. The accident is said to have taken place at a distance of 60 km to Sabarimala on Thursday at 9:30 am. The locals informed the police and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital. However, the matter came to light after the Kerala police informed the Kurnool police.

    Panic gripped among the villagers of Kondapur-Alubaka of Venkatapur mandal after the posters of Maoists were spotted. The posters were surfaced in the name of Venkatapuram-Wajedu area committee warning the Maoist informers. The posters said that the Maoist informers from Bollaram, Seetharamapuram, Kalipaka were sharing the information to the police through phone call or Whatsapp when a new person is spotted in the village.Read more

    Entire nation has been stunned into a state of disbelief and disorientation by the news of the death of the Defence Services Chief Bipin Rawat and 12 more including his wife in a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu. The chopper crashed shortly after take-off on Wednesday afternoon. "An IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident," tweeted the Air Force initially.Read more

    Singareni workers on Thursday morning boycotted their duties following a three-day strike call against the privatization of coal blocks. A total of 40,000 regular employees and 25,000 contract employees joined the protest following which the coal production halted at 19 open cast mines and 23 underground mines. The workers called for the protest after the central government announced auctioning of four coal blocks. They alleged that the strike would be continued until the central government withdrew their decision. Also Read - TTD toughens its stand on agitating outsourced workers. Singareni Collieries has spent around Rs 167 crore for the blocks -- block-3 in Koyagudem of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, block-3 in Sattupalli of Khammam district, Kalyanakani-6 and the blocks in Sravanapalli of Asifabad district. While the corporation is awaiting the permission for the production of coal in these blocks, the centre announced auctioning of the blocks. The strike was launched after the workers talks with Singareni management on December 3 and 6 were failed.
