Madhapur: Sampradaya Santha, a first-of-its-kind farmer and weavers market, was organised at Kavuri Hills Community Park on Sunday by Rotary Club of Sampradaya Hyderabad and Rotary Club of Secunderabad West with the objective of supporting and empowering farmers and weavers. P Sivannarayana Rao, District Governor of Rotaract, attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the event.

Shivannaraya Rao said, "Rotaract will always work for farmers," and he appreciated the Rotary Club for the humble cause and idea to help families of farmers who experienced sorrow. The first-ever market established for farmers here had 20 stalls.

Farmers, weavers and the organic producers drew consumer attention with their beautifully weaved sarees, healthy multi-grain laddus and many other organic and pure quality products. Sampradaya Santha also served as a marketing place for genuine organic cultivators and they can utilise this market to sell their produce to consumers directly every month on second Sunday.

"Through the first-ever kind of initiative called Sampradaya Santha in Hyderabad, we decided to help the families of farmers who committed suicide, by presenting them a marketplace to sell their products directly to the consumers without any middlemen so that the complete profit shall reach them and benefit them. Team Rotaract has wandered and found truly deceased farmers and presented them a chance to sell their products in the Sampradaya Santha," said Sri Ramamurthy, president of Saampradhaya Santha.

Chelle and Prashanthi from Devarakonda, whose farmer husbands committed suicide, got a chance to sell their produce at the Samprayada Santha. The Rotary Club of Saampradaya Hyderabad and Rotary Club of Secunderabad West collaboratively took up responsibility to present monthly groceries for two complete years to the both widows.

"We are planning to expand the market in the coming months and we shall also increase the number of stalls to 40 by including more farmers. This initiative will definitely benefit the consumers and producers," said Rama Murthy. "The quality of the clothes here is pretty good and the cost is truly affordable," said Prethika, a consumer in the market.

"Organic food is usually high in rates but here for the first time I could see the actual prices which are truly affordable. These kinds of markets must be established more and more in the city," said Lavanya, a consumer.
