BJP flags ‘crooked’ Ramji Gond Museum, alleges massive irregularities

Hyderabad: The construction of the Ramji Gond Memorial Museum has sparked controversy, with the BJP Telangana ST Morcha alleging massive irregularities, corruption, and safety violations in the ongoing works. The project, intended to honour tribal freedom fighter Ramji Gond, is being jointly funded by the central and state governments, with the Centre contributing 60 per cent and the state expected to provide 40 per cent.
BJP ST Morcha State President Nenawat Ravi Nayak said on Tuesday that while the Central government has already released about Rs 14 crore, the Telangana state government has not released a single rupee of its share. This financial gap, he claimed, has led to haphazard construction and poor quality standards.
During an inspection of the museum site, Nayak highlighted several alarming defects, pointing out that the entire structure, including the spire, appeared crooked and poorly built. He alleged complete disregard for safety norms, negligence by the contractor Kakatiya Construction, and careless supervision by engineers entrusted with public funds. “The work has suffered because the state government failed to release its 40 per cent share,” he said, adding that the flaws were clearly visible on site.
Nayak further warned that the poorly built museum could pose serious risks in the future.
“Even though the Centre gave Rs 14 crore, the state did not give a single rupee. It is an insult to the dignity of the tribals that this building, constructed in such a manner, may lead to accidents. An immediate inquiry should be conducted and strict action taken against those responsible,” he demanded.
The BJP ST Morcha has called upon the Telangana government to immediately release its share of funds and ensure that the project is completed with proper quality standards. The organisation stressed that the museum, dedicated to a revered tribal leader, must reflect dignity and safety, not negligence and corruption.
