Demand for agricultural graduates growing steeply, says Vice-Chancellor
The combined counselling for admissions into undergraduate courses in Agriculture, Veterinary and Horticultural began at PJTSAU (Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University) in Rajendranagar on Wednesday.
Rajendranagar: The combined counselling for admissions into undergraduate courses in Agriculture, Veterinary and Horticultural began at PJTSAU (Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University) in Rajendranagar on Wednesday.
Vice-Chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao formally inaugurated the counselling by handing over the admission letter to Manisha who secured 411 rank in Telangana (EAMCET-2019). She opted to join in Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH), at college of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar. After inauguration of the counselling, Praveen Rao, addressed the candidates and their parents about prospects and opportunities in agricultural courses.
Dr Rao informed that Agriculture remains important course which serves the 65 percent of the population who mainly depend on agriculture for their livelihood. He explained that in agricultural sector several job opportunities were coming up for the agricultural graduates who had successfully completed their course at UG and PG level.
For the coming next 10 years, he said, while referring to a survey done by the international organisation, there would be a demand for more than a lakh agricultural graduates and requirement in the food sector in India and at global level. The demand for agriculture graduates is growing year by year, he said.
Further, he emphasized the agricultural graduate or scientist has a greater social responsibility to provide food for the people and ensure that none suffers with hunger. Candidates, who got admission into agricultural courses are blessed, because they are entering into a noble profession which caters to the needs of farmers as well as provide food for the people and may remove poverty in the society, he added.
Dr S Sudheer Kumar, Registrar PJTSAU, Dr J Sathyanarayana, Dean of Agriculture, officers from veterinary and horticultural universities Dr. Narasimhareddy, Dr M Padma were present.
