Line departments gearing up for Ganesh festival
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has directed the officials of various departments to make arrangements for the ensuing Ganesh festival and as well as for the immersion programme.

Speaking at the meeting with officials of various departments like, police, TSPCL, HRCL, HMR, Revenue, the Mayor asked them to provide better arrangements than last year by overcoming any shortfalls, if any. Immersion of idols should be completed before dawn as was done during the last three years. Further, he suggested to have preparedness meeting at respective commissionerates and zones concerned to have better co-ordination among various stakeholder departments.
Dana Kishore, the Commissioner of GHMC, said instructions were issued to the sanitation wing to take up all necessary measures to lift garbage, leftover waste as and when they formed during immersion process and after immersion. Further, he said bleaching powder and flyash should be spread and fogging operations carried enroute and at water bodies.
The SE (Electrical) was instructed to ensure functioning of all streetlights on all routes of procession. HMRL officials were asked to pay special attention where HMR works were going on to take up repairs of potholes, carry out patch works and remove construction materials all along the route from JBS to Secunderabad station road route.
The Commissioner further asked the TSPCL to provide generators at the specific places as suggested by the CP Hyderabad apart from arrangements done as per last year and also ensures the tree branches and low lying wires should not obstruct free movement of idols.
Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, suggested removal of hoardings, cement barricades and called for strong barricading and sufficient cranes at Necklace Road and on Tank Bund. He suggested that cranes, mechanics and spare parts be made available during the immersion process for quick and smooth movement of vehicles. He also sought 80 watch towers and mobile toilets etc.
HMWSSB officials informed that they were arranging 32 lakh water sachets at various water camps – 2 lakhs more than last year – and taking all preventive measures to avert overflow of drainage. They would also keep super sucker machines ready to attend to any emergency work.
HRDCL officials informed that there was sufficient stock of Shell Mac material to take up road repair works. Fire Department officials informed they were prepared as per the arrangementsdone in last year.
Zonal Commissioners Dasari Hari Chandana and Musharaff Ali, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagawath, Vigilance Director Vishwajit Kampati, DCP (traffic) of Cyberabad, Vijay Kumar, DCP Traffic-1 L S Chowhan, and other senior officials from various departments participated in the meeting.
