Onam celebrated with pomp and gaiety
Grand Onam celebrations were organised on Sunday evening at BHEL Community Centre here, in the presence of Executive Director Uday Kumar. Traditional Kerala dances by members of the BHEL Kerala Samajam drew the attention of the gathering.

Kumar lit the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration of the event. He praised the celebration of Onam by Malayalis not forgetting their culture irrespective of the places they live in. He called upon BHEL staff to strive for achieving excellence and development of the organisation. "If the organisation is healthy, every one of us will do well," he said.
Organiser of Kerala Samajam Shiva Shankar said that the Onam celebrations have been organised for years. Such functions will not only help protect the traditional cultural practices, but also ensure unity in the community, he said.
The decoration at the community centre also won appreciation of the audience. 'Saha Pankthi Bhojanam' was also organised with the participants enjoying the dishes.
