Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) which has been getting good revenues through the cargo and parcel service fails to have an office in Bengaluru, which has been affecting the business prospects of the new entity.

The corporation had started Cargo and parcel services to neighbouring states that include Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. TSRTC used to get 4,000 to 5,000 parcels every day when it had given the contract to the private agency "ANL parcel services".

However, with the absence of a proper office in the Bengaluru city, customers are unable to locate the parcel section. Only the incoming parcels are dumped at the reservation counter at the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) depot.

According to sources, a private person named Kapil Dev was given a contract for the courier services for Rs 5.7 lakh in the tender process. He further gave the contract on sub lease to others and has been collecting Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh at places like Hebbal Bengaluru city.

While Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted the officials to utilise the Cargo to the optimum level, there are some shortcomings which need to be corrected. TSRTC has a 10/6 sq feet reservation counter and with the dumping of the parcels there is a risk of misplacement of the items.
