Water harvesting pits restored in Chandrapuri
As part of ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ program, LB Nagar MLA Deveireddy Sudheer Reddy and Mansurabad division corporator Koppula Vittal Reddy took part in a rally held at Chandrapuri Colony to raise awareness on the importance of water harvesting pits, on Sunday.
LB Nagar: As part of 'Swachh Hyderabad' program, LB Nagar MLA Deveireddy Sudheer Reddy and Mansurabad division corporator Koppula Vittal Reddy took part in a rally held at Chandrapuri Colony to raise awareness on the importance of water harvesting pits, on Sunday.
As part of the awareness programme, the outer layer of sand in water harvesting pits in the colony was replaced with new sand in order to improve percolation.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudheer Reddy explained the importance of water harvesting in view of growing drinking water needs and depleting groundwater in the city. He urged people to build percolation pits wherever necessary to improve groundwater levels in their areas.
He asked colony residents welfare association to take measures to raise awareness among the residents and ensure that more percolation pits are built in the colony before the approaching rainy season. This would help in addressing water shortage issues in future, he said.
