Adah Sharma's The Kerala Story to Stream on ZEE5 from February 16th
Adah Sharma's highly anticipated film "The Kerala Story" is set to premiere on ZEE5 from February 16th. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the movie explores the gripping tale of three girls manipulated into converting to another religion and one's involvement with a terrorist group, shedding light on shocking events in Kerala between 2018-19.

The news of the film's digital release was shared by Adah herself on Instagram, much to the excitement of her fans. She announced, "FINALLY! SURPRISE! The highly anticipated film is dropping soon on ZEE5! #TheKeralaStory premieres on 16th February, only on #ZEE5."
Initially, there were speculations in June 2023 regarding the film's readiness for online streaming, with director Sudipto Sen mentioning that they hadn't received any suitable offers from OTT platforms. The team behind "The Kerala Story" even claimed that the film industry seemed to be against them due to their success at the box office. Sen expressed, "It seems the film industry has ganged up to punish us."
The movie revolves around the lives of three girls: Shalini, Nimah, and Geetanjali, who are manipulated into converting to another religion by their roommate, Asifa. Divided into two parts, the film depicts the girls' journey into conversion and Shalini's subsequent involvement with a terrorist group and her imprisonment in Afghanistan. It sheds light on the shocking events that occurred in Kerala between 2018-19, where a rising number of youths fell under the influence of extremist ideologies.
Director Sudipto Sen expressed his thoughts on the OTT release, stating, "Tackling such a sensitive topic and translating it into a film is no small feat. But for those who haven't watched the film yet, I urge them to watch 'The Kerala Story' on ZEE5 for a transformational experience."
However, the film faced scrutiny right from its trailer release, with claims of exaggerated figures regarding missing women in Kerala. Despite objections, it emerged as one of the most successful films at the box office in 2023.
