Hyderabad: As expected, the board of directors of Biological E Ltd, has nominated Mahima Datla as its new managing director on Sunday.A The board met here for the first time after the sudden demise of Dr Vijay Kumar Datla, CMD. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of GV Rao, a director and close relative of Datla family. The company also said that the board will have two more new directors � Purnima Mantena and Indira P Raju � apart from Mahima Datla. A Incidentally, all the three new inducted members on board are the daughters of Dr Vijay Kumar Datla, while Mahima being the youngest.A GV Rao and Dr Renuka Datla (wife of Vijay Kumar Datla) will continue to be on the board. Sources said that the board had to identify a Chairman for the company, which may take place at the board's next meeting . Reacting to her new assignment as Managing Director of the company, Mahima Datla said: "This is a role I take on with a deep sense of humility and responsibility. Our chairman was an incredible human being and was motivated not just to success in business but more importantly by a larger humanitarian purpose. We carry on his legacy and purpose with much pride." A business management graduate from London School of Economics, Mahima Datla has joined the company in 1998 and since then she worked in various capacities including Senior Vice-President of the company, before she was inducted into the board. She was instrumental in improving and expanding the company's vaccine business. She also serves on the board of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization). A leading Indian Vaccine manufacturer based out of Hyderabad, Biological E, is targeting to achieve a turnover of over `500 crore in the current fiscal. It is a major player in Vaccinology and supplied over two billion doses of vaccines till date. It has WHO pre-qualification approvals and supplies � BE TT, Combefive (reconstituted) and Combefive (liquid).
