Nizamabad: A farmer from Nemli village in Birkur mandal committed suicide due to debt burden on Friday. Bobbili Anjaiah (50), who owns two acres of land, took another three on lease from the villagers, and sowed paddy. But due to drought conditions, the crop started withering away. In order to protect the crop, he dug four bore-wells but they failed to fetch any water leaving him with a debt of nearly Rs five lakh.

Finding no solution to repay the debt, he consumed poison on Thursday night and committed suicide. The family members shifted him to Nizamabad government hospital.

He died on Friday while undergoing treatment. Anjaiah is survived by wife, three sons and a daughter.
