South Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada Division Sports Association is organizing Sankranthi Cup Five-A side Football tournament at Railway Stadium in the city from January 7 to 9 as part of New Year and Sankranti celebrations to entertain the staff and their family members.

According to Divisional Sports Welfare Inspector N Arjuna Rao said in a press release on Thursday that 15 teams are inviting from different branches. The tournament would be conducted as league cum Knock out System by dividing four pools, he said. In this tournament, Vijayawada Division Football team would select for forth coming Inter - Divisional championship, he added.
Noted National players like V Kannan, G Edwin, W Chandra Sekhar, Niroshan Mani, A Vamsi Krishna, T Robert Kennedy, J Srinivas, P Krishna, Hasmath Ali, Chandra, J Nagarjuna, Sk Javid, S Veera Babu,V Sathish Kumar, T Bhaskar Rao, D Anil Kumar and GS Reddy are taking part in different Branches, he added.
