Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner Gowtam Sawang, called upon women to face problem, if any, rather than suffering. He was chief guest at the inaugural of a two-day women festival, ‘Taruni Tarangalu’ at Siddhartha College auditorium here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that if any woman was facing a problem, she could approach Mahila Mithra in police station to lodge a complaint and solve their problem. Mahila Mithra was organising motivational and awareness programmes so that women can come to police station and lodge complaints. He said there were two Mahila Mithra police persons in every police station.

He complimented all the women organisations of Vijayawada for coming under one roof to discuss problems faced by women in society and said that by collective effort problems would be solved quickly.

He further said that the 4th Lion mobile app was designed for women and they could dial 100 to help the police come to their rescue in minutes. He assured the police support for ‘Taruni Tarangalu’ and added that all the women should feel that police department was there for their assistance. AP Women Commission chairperson N Rajakumari, Taruni Tarangalu honorary president Chennupati Vidya, other members were present.
