Vijayawada: VMC Commissioner J Nivas expressed his ire over the sanitary staff for the poor maintenance of the sanitation. The Commissioner inspected Bhavanipuram, National Highway, FCI Godown area, Krambay road, PRK Buildings, Priyadarshini Colony and other places under 28th sanitary division on Monday.

On observing heaps of garbage in these areas, the Commissioner ordered the sanitary staff to immediately remove the garbage plied in the area.

He interacted with the local residents about the sanitation and enquired whether the garbage was collected daily and the supply of drinking water in those areas. Water was collected from those areas for testing the chlorination percentage.

The Commissioner also enquired about any water leakages in the area. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the storm water drain repair works done by L and T Company and ordered the staff to immediately divert the drain water stagnated in the pits. He cautioned the officials to be careful while taking up repair work of drainages at places where there were drinking water pipes.

He further inspected side canals and major outflow drainage in those areas and ordered to clear the silt in the side canals for the free flow of side canal water. He ordered the sanitary staff to spray ML oil at every 10 feet distance.

Chief medical officer Dr Arjuna Rao, Executive Engineer K Koteswara Rao, Assistant Medical Officer Dr Iqbal Hussain and others were present.
