againAnantapuramu: Teaching and non-teaching staff of Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapuramu observed Dr BR Ambedkar's 123rd birth anniversary here on Sunday. Students and research scholars and women attended the event and remembered the contribution of Ambedkar in building the nation as well as in making Indian Constitution. The Vice-Chancellor Prof K Ramakrishna Reddy attended as chief guest and addressed the gathering. He said that the Buddhist philosophy of Dr BR Ambedkar brought significant changes in the society and showed a path for social transformation towards eradication of the prevailing caste system in the society and protecting the humanity at different levels. VC emphasised that Ambedkar campaigned against social discrimination and strongly believed in non-violence and drafting the Indian Constitution, which has got recognition as the first and foremost social document. With his vision citizens of India were constitutionally guaranteed in protecting the wide range of civil liberties. Earlier, huge rally was conducted by students and staff of the University. Vice-Chancellor Prof K Ramakrishna Reddy, Prof K Satyanarayana, University CEIFEL, Hyderabad and all academic, administrative deans garlanded Ambedkar statue at administrative building by paying floral tributes on this occasion. Prof K Satyanarayana stressed that Ambedkar was a great social reformer and every citizen of the country has to adopt the ideology of the great architect of Indian Constitution. SKU Principal Prof M Buddanna, University Registrar Prof K Govindappa, SKU Public Relations Officer Dr K Sudhakar Babu, Convener Prof Rangaswamy, all academic and administrative deans were present in the programme.
