theftHyderabad: North zone Task Force Team on Friday arrested a gang of four women, who indulged in sale of fake Nokia cell phones to innocent people. They seized 160 phones, 125 batteries, 110 battery stickers, 212 holograms, 30 name emblems, 85 chargers and eight empty bill books from their possession. The arrested women were Rekha (32), Jyothi (28), Mangilee (35), and Gajara Bai (50). All of them were natives of Jalgaon (Maharashtra) residing in Bachupally of Ranga Reddy district. Three members of the gang Prakash Shantharam Mohite, Krishna Suresh Mohite and Avushilal Pawar are absconding. According to the police, the accused used to come to Hyderabad to sell China products like umbrellas, mosquito bats, watches etc. They bought China mobiles from Mumbai and affixed stickers and holograms and sold them as Nokia mobiles for Rs 3,000, as against the cost. The police apprehended the gang at Karkhana on charges of cheating and forgery. The arrested women and the seized property were handed over to Karkhana police.
