Guv Meets Prez, Sonia, Governor E S L Narasimhan, Situation on Telangana, issue of Article 371 (D). Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan on Wednesday called on President Pranab Mukherjee and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and apprised them of the situation on Telangana.

Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan on Wednesday called on President Pranab Mukherjee and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and apprised them of the situation on Telangana.
With Pranab Mukherjee, the Governor is understood to have discussed the issue of Article 371 (D), with regard to the decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Status of Hyderabad is also an issue that is understood to have figured in a big way. The people of Seemandhra region feel that their contribution over the past decades has been sizeable in the development, growth and expansion of Hyderabad. Hyderabad status also assumes significance, as it is supposed to serve as a joint Capital for 10 years for both States. In such an eventuality, mechanisms have to be worked for governance of the city.
Narasimhan is also understood to have briefed Sonia Gandhi on the ground situation in the State, especially in the wake of the raging agitation in the Seemandhra region. The UPA Chairperson has to take a call on the roadmap to be adopted for the creation of Telangana. She needs to understand the ground situation, the grievances of the people of Seemandhra and the way forward in the present situation.
The Governor spent a hectic day meeting all the important dignitaries. Apart from Mukherjee and Sonia Gandhi, the Governor met Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh. During his meeting with Shinde, also present were the Intelligence Bureau Director and Minister of State in PMO V Narayanasamy. At the same time, the Governor maintained that there was nothing special or particular about his visit. “I came to Delhi on a routine tour.
It is quite some time since I had last visited Delhi and so I thought I should make a visit. There is no political significance attached to it,” he said.
