TRS MP G Vivek on Tuesday lashed out against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy for misleading the people in the both regions on sharing of river waters. He pointed out that Telangana region suffered a loss to the tune of Rs 5 lakh crore because of denial of its share of Krishna water for the past six decades.

Addressing a press conference here, the Peddapalli MP took exception to the comments made by Jagan at Samaikya Sankaravam meeting that Rayalaseema would be hard-pressed to get Krishna water after bifurcation.

Bachawat Tribunal awarded 811 tmcft of assured water from Krishna basin for the state. Out of this Coastal Andhra region was given 367 tmcft of assured water, Rayalaseema-144 tmcft and Telangana -298 tmcft. However, former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy built Pothireddypadu head regulator later bulldozing all and as a result Rayalaseema was now drawing 364 tmcft against the stipulated 144 tmcft, Vivek pointed out. This was the actual situation but Rayalaseema leaders Kiran Kumar Reddy and Jagan were speaking entirely the opposite, the MP lamented. He further pointed out that because of various projects coming up in Rayalaseema, Andhra region would face the brunt after division of the state. Vivek said that there was no problem with Godavari water sharing.
