Hyderabad: The Megacity Navakala Vedika Mother Foundation on Monday celebrated ‘The National Law Day’ to commemorating the lawmakers who framed the Indian Constitution. Distinguished advocates from across the State were presented 'Nyaya Sree Awards', in appreciation of their contribution to the profession and for striving for the upliftment of the society.
Jalli Kanakaiah, government pleader for revenue, AP High Court, High Court advocates - Ch Satish Kumar, S Sai Nathan, KP Ramanna Dora, Komat Reddy Venkata Narsimha Reddy, M Vidyavathi, former district Bar President, Srikakulam, Sistu Ramesh and advocates A Muralidhar (Nalgonda Dist), K Achuta Rama Rao (Khammam), K Karan Das, and Ramesh were conferred with the awards at the ceremony held at Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Hyderbad.
Justice G Chandraiah, High Court judge, was the Chief Guest for the event, which was presided over by Uppuluri Mallikarjuna Sharma, freedom fighter and Founder of Megacity Navakala Vedika. A Anasuya, High Court advocate. Keerthi Prabhakar, High Court advocate, P Chinna Reddy, former director, Museums and Archaeology, Govt of AP, DK Reddy, Directorate of Distance Education, Hyderabad, AV Swamy, Advocate and M Ramesh, advocate were among those present at the event.
Justice Chandraiah said that the origin of the need to celebrate The National Law Day, could be traced back to November 26, 1979, when a meeting was held by ML Singh, the President of Supreme Court Lawyers Association then, with the members who had suggested that in order to protect the freedom of law, to provide equal and fair justice to the people, to improve the legal system and above all, to remember the efforts of lawmakers who drafted the constitution, there was a need to celebrate the constitutional law every year. Since then, it was being celebrated across India.
He said that free and compulsory education for girl child between the ages 6 and 14, was a fundamental right of every girl child. He observed that for a lawyer to be successful, family co-operation was very much needed.
