Rayachoti: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy claimed here on Monday that he was able to raise the State’s income from Rs.45,000 crore to Rs.75,000 crore, after assuming office three years back.
Addressing a ‘Rachabanda’ meeting, he recalled becoming the Chief Minister when the State was facing a financial crisis, not being able to pay dues to the government employees and students, and when ‘development stopped’.
Reddy said he was able to allocate funds to the schemes which were discontinued and implement the welfare programmes. Despite separatist agitations in Telangana and Seemandhra, cyclones and floods, he was able to run the administration well.
The Chief Minister said he was pained by the Centre’s decision to bifurcated the State. ‘It is improper to split the State for selfish motives. Persons are not important, only the State is permanent. There is a need to keep it united’, he stated while pledging to fight for a united State. All those present at the meeting raised their hands favouring Samaikyandhra when he asked them to.
He made several promises to people of Rayachoti constituency, and laid the foundation for several development works, a drinking water scheme and several sub-stations. Addressing the meeting, Minister C Ramachandraiah described Kiran as a ‘good player. But it is necessary to be a good captain’. While pledging support, he called upon the Chief Minister to continue the fight for Samaikyandhra. He praised Reddy for taking the fight forward even disregarding his future.
Twenty-point Implementation Committee chairman Tulasi Reddy praised Kiran Reddy’s administration, saying he would be remain in history as an able Chief Minister.
Local MLA G Srikanth Reddy said the problem of State’s division had arisen only because of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s death. He urged Kiran Reddy to continue the fight for Samaikyandhra. He raised ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’ slogans.
Ministers Mahidhar Reddy, Mohd. Ahmedullah, legislators Veerashiva Reddy, Kamalamma, MLC Bachala Pullayya, former MLA Ramesh Reddy, in-charge of the constituency Ramprasad Reddy, District Grandhayala Samstha chairman Ramakoti Reddy, DCMS chairman Vishnuvardhan Reddy attended the meeting.
