Bank officials deny receiving complaints
Giddalur (Prakasam): Cut and torn currency notes besides those pasted with white paper and bitten by rats were claimed to have been found on Thursday among Rs.1,200 drawn by a panchayat employee Nagayya from the ATM near Kummaramakattu, here.
Local residents alleged that fakes notes were regularly found among the amounts drawn from the ATM, blaming the bank staff, as it could not happen without their knowledge. The task of placing cash in the seven ATMs here is entrusted to agency CNMS.
When contacted, SBI chief manager Mallikarjun denied receiving any complaint from customers of finding fake, torn and burnt currency notes. He said the cash was tested before being handed over to CNMS.
Appala Naidu, ATM manager, dismissed the claims as ‘rumours’. He said none had approached the bank with any complaint and that customers need not fear.
