Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday met Punjab and Bihar Chief Ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Nitish Kumar in their respective State capitals and sought their support in his fight against the bifurcation of AP State in the parliament.
Speaking to media persons, Badal, who is also the president of Shiromani Akali Dal, said that Assembly resolution with two-third majority should be taken before dividing a State.
“Even in panchayats, to do anything a resolution is passed with two-third majority and when the matter concerns carving out a separate State, the Assembly must be taken into confidence,” he said.
Jagan said that the will of the people should be reflected by the resolution and it should be adopted by a two-third majority. The YSR party leader said that Nitish assured his party that JD (U) would support the party in the fight against T State formation in the parliament.
He brought to the notice of the Bihar Chief Minster the Centre’s unilateral decision to bifurcate the State. He said that Nitish had also agreed for supporting his demand to amend Article 3 of the Constitution which provides the Centre the sole authority to divide a State.
