Hyderabad: Ridiculing the way the Congress has taken forward the bifurcation process, BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar felt that issue of Telangana Bill, like that of Women’s Reservation Bill and Lokpal Bill, would end in limbo.
Javadekar, who was in city to flag off the 2K run for ‘Statue of Unity’, said that the Congress was not serious about the bifurcation issue and was adopting strategy which was similar to Women’s Reservation Bill, which was passed in one house and could not move further.
He said, “It appears that even the Telangana Bill would meet similar fate.” He recalled that even the Lokpal Bill was held up in a similar manner. Despite the high drama, the Congress party has been acting for past few weeks as if it was going to pass the Bill, but it appears to be doubtful, he said.
“Though for the first time in the history of the country, its own MPs moved the ‘no-confidence’ motion against the government and it does not have the spine to take disciplinary action against them for their acts of indiscipline. The Congress party at the Centre and in the State appears to be in complete ‘disarray’, as its own Chief Minister was rebelling against decision of high command,” he said.
According to him, the mishandling of bifurcation issue created ‘complete crises’ in the State.
Brushing aside the speculation that BJP would form alliance with TDP, he said that party is yet to decide on the forming alliances. He clarified that if the State gets divided before elections, then BJP would fight on its own in the new State, while it may ponder over to have alliance in Seemandhra region.
Javadekar said that the Congress party conveniently talked about only one family, while ignoring the national heroes Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastry and Narsimha Rao. Describing unity statue as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhai Patel, he said that several princely States, including Nizam’s Hyderabad, which was not budging, were merged with India.
The 2K run, he said, was organised not only at 560 places but in 5,000 other places voluntarily by some people. Each village out of seven lakh villages in India would provide agricultural implements made of iron as a mark of participation.
