Central Staff Demands 7th Pay Commission. The association of the Central government employees threatened to step up its stir all over the country unless its demands were met forthwith.

Hyderabad: The association of the Central government employees threatened to step up its stir all over the country unless its demands were met forthwith. The association organised a dharna in front of the Dak Sadan here on Friday. Similar protests would be staged at other Central government offices soon.

D Narasimha Murthy, circle secretary of All India Postal Accounts Employees Association, said that their protest was intended to demand the setting up of the 7th pay commission, besides DA merger and interim relief. It should be implemented from 2014. The demands such as DA merger and interim relief were important in view of the spiralling prices of essential commodities.
“Once the demands pertaining wage hike are fulfilled, we can cope with the price rise", he said. "Our demands were pending since 2011. It is high time that they are looked into". When the employees of the State government and the public sector undertakings get the pay revision commission for every five years, why not the Central government employees, he questioned. The Extended National Executive meeting of the Confederation of Central Government Employees will meet in New Delhi on January 10 to decide the future course of action.
It may call for a strike, if the demands are not considered. The pay revision commission, which is yet to be announced, will revise the salaries of more than 50 lakh Central government employees and this process is expected to start before May 2014.
