S Naidu alleges Congress had shown disrespect to PV after his demise
Hyderabad: The injustice meted out to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao after his demise came up for discussion for a short time during the debate on AP Reorganisation Bill in the Assembly on Friday.
The issue cropped up when the TRS floor leader Etela Rajender was speaking on the Bill.
While trying to emphasise that the Telangana region had suffered discrimination under the rule of Seemandhra leaders, Rajender said none of the Chief Ministers thought it fit to appoint anyone from the region as Advocate-General.
Reacting to this, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that it was not proper to level such allegations.
This invited protest from the TRS members. Intervening again, Kiran explained that PV Narasimha Rao chose to contest the Lok Sabha seat from Kurnool since he had greater faith in the people of that region. Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the Congress party had shown disrespect to Rao even after his demise.
“While those who had been Prime Minister for six months had a ‘ghat’ in New Delhi, Rao’s body was shifted to Hyderabad. Even here, the State government did not give him the respect and honor he deserved,’’ Naidu added.
