Prof Velpuri passes away
Prof Velpuri passes away, Velpuri Lakshmi narayana Passed away, Best Teacher Award. He was a visiting faculty at Brigham Young University (USA), University of Bonn, University of Groningen (Netherlands), and the National University of Singapore.
Visakhapatnam: Prof Velpuri Lakshmi - narayana, one of the pioneers of Nuclear research and retired professor of Nuclear Physics, Andhra University, passed away here on Saturday. He was 82. He was a recipient of the first Best Teacher Award instituted by the State government, along with Prof K Satchidananda Murty and Prof B S Murthy from Andhra University in the 1970s. He was born in Mucherla village in Vizianagaram district.
He was a visiting faculty at Brigham Young University (USA), University of Bonn, University of Groningen (Netherlands), and the National University of Singapore. He had been associated with several international laboratories working on nuclear research. He has been instrumental in building close cooperation with BARC along with Dr Raja Ramanna and P K Iyyangar and Andhra University.
