Hyderabad: While the Centre appears to be steadfast in its decision to get the T Bill passed in Parliament, the Seemandhra Union Ministers continue to be a divided lot on the issue of bifurcation.

Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Saturday made it clear that he would strongly oppose the T Bill in Parliament. Speaking at a function to inaugurate Rs 4.63 crore R&B road works in Guntur, he justified his act of going into the Well of Parliament on February 17. He said it was his anguish that made him go into the Well though he was a Union Minister. Lashing out at the manner in which 16 MPs were suspended from Parliament, he said about 60 MPs were opposing the Bill but the Speaker suspended only 16 MPs.

On the other hand, another Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi reiterated in Guntur that she would abide by the decision of the party high command. She disapproved the manner in which the MPs and the Ministers from Seemandhra region behaved in Lok Sabha.

Revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy said CM’s resignation would not serve the objective of stalling bifurcation. He told the media in Anantapur at DCC office, he said Kiran should take more effective steps to ensure the unity of Andhra Pradesh. Instead of resorting to resignation, CM should lead a delegation along with TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy to President Pranab Mukherjee to stop the division, he added.

Rural Development Minister Dokka Manikya Varaprasad said he did not believe that CM would resign and launch a party. Sonia Gandhi had chosen him as the CM because of his loyalty to the party. “I don’t think Chief Minister would belie her confidence. Launching a new party is not as easy as addressing a press conference,” he said.

Minister for Health Kondru Murali Mohan also said that Kiran Kumar Reddy would not quit the post. He also would not launch new party. “Kiran is a true loyal worker of Congress. He won’t resign or quit the party,” he said.
