Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's claims that resignation was one of his options to oppose the Telangana Bill were ridiculed by Telangana Congress leaders on Saturday.

With the Chief Minister continuing to send mixed signals on whether or not he would resign, his critics in the party challenged Kiran to resign immediately.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) office, Rural Development Minister Dokka Manikya Varaprasada Rao ridiculed Kiran by saying, “Floating a new political party is not as easy as holding a press conferences.”

He said the Chief Minister only holds press meets but would not launch a new party. Rao stated that the stature of Kiran Reddy was nothing more than a constituency level leader.

However, Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar and MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy dared Kiran to resign immediately if he had any moral values. Ponnam denied the allegations that the Telangana MPs had attacked Seemandhra MPs when the Telangana Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. He said a thorough probe should be ordered based on the video footage that was available with the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
