Hyderabad: Giving a strong indication that his party has almost firmed up alliance with the BJP, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the party was showing interest in poll alliances with like-minded parties in the larger interests of the state.

He admitted senior Congress leaders G Kutuhalamma, MLA from Gangadhara Nellore in Chittoor district, MLC G Tippeswamy from Anantapur district, and former Congress MLA Varadarajula Reddy from Kadapa district into the party, at his residence here. Former Tirupati MLA Venkata Ramana, PCC State committee secretary MRC Reddy, Congress party in-charge of Tamballapalle Assembly constituency in Chittoor district, G Shankar Yadav, and Harikumar from Madanapalle also joined the Telugu Desam.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion, Naidu said that the alliance with other parties would not leave any scope for political gains and selfish interests. He said the TDP had alliances with national parties in the past to prevent Congress party from coming to power. He said the state and the country needed to be saved from those who had ruined the economy and destroyed all institutions.

He assured the party workers, who had been with the party from the beginning, that he would do justice to them politically.
